Sewer Department

The Bethel Sewer Department operates and maintains the municipal sewer collection system. The Bethel Sewer system serves the downtown and southwest portions of Bethel, the Stony Hill area, and the Route 6 commercial area.

The Town of Bethel does not have its own wastewater treatment facility and the wastewater generated within the Bethel Sewer system is transported to the Danbury Water Pollution Control Facility for treatment under an inter-municipal agreement. The Bethel daily average sewer allocation from this agreement is 2 million gallons per day. The collection system consists of 58 miles of sewer main, sewer manholes and 10 sewer pump stations.
