Radon is the Leading Cause of Lung Cancer among Non-Smokers in the U.S.
Experts at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA )advise us that radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the U.S and is the second highest cause of lung cancer deaths after smoking. If you smoke and your home has high radon levels, your risk of lung cancer is especially high. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas generated from the decay of naturally occurring uranium in soil, rock, and water which enters homes through cracks and crevices in floors and walls that are in contact with the ground and private well water supplies. Radon can have a serious impact on the health of our families and friends.
Testing your home for radon is simple and inexpensive to do. Testing is the only way to know if Radon is in your home. You can test yourself and/or hire a professional to do it for you.
Radon test kits can also be purchased at local hardware/retail stores, ordered on line from the National Radon Program Services for Kansas State University at http://sosradon.org/test-kits or Airchek,Inc., www.radon.com or purchased from the American Lung Association of Northeast.
