Commending or complimenting an officer for exceptional performance:

While our Officers do not seek nor expect credit or thanks for performing their duties; recognition of exceptional service by the public is always appreciated and helps our administration, supervision, and town government to identify and recognize those officers who are quietly and routinely making Bethel a better place to live and visit. Officer commendations may also be placed into their personnel files.

To recognize, commend, or compliment an officer, please call or write a brief letter or email about your interaction. Please include details such as a brief description of the event, the date, approximate time, and the location (this will help us to identify the employee in the event you do not know their name).

Fingerprinting Services Currently Require an Appointment. 

 

Pre-Employment Fingerprints
The Bethel Police Department provides pre-employment fingerprinting services only for Bethel residents ($10 exact cash/check) and applications for employment in Bethel ($20 exact cash/check). This service is provided by appointment only on Wednesdays from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Anyone looking to obtain fingerprints for employment must be given a Pre-Enrollment code provided by their employer and must visit the CT Criminal History Request System to Pre-Enroll. Once Pre-Enrollment is complete, each applicant will receive an Applicant Tracking Number/Barcode to bring with them to their appointment.

Appointments can be made by contacting 203-744-7900 ext. 107 once Pre-Enrollment has been completed.

The fee is $10.00 per card for Bethel residents and $20 for non-residents (only when applying for employment in Bethel). There is no fee for Bethel Board of Education applicants.

Your prospective employer is responsible for pre-registration with the state of Connecticut.

Pistol Permit Fingerprints
Pistol permit applicants are required by the state of Connecticut to Pre-Enroll for fingerprints.   Visit CT Criminal History Request System to Pre-Enroll.

Once pre-enrollment is complete, each applicant will receive an Applicant Tracking Number form. This form MUST be printed and is REQUIRED to make a pistol permit fingerprinting appointment. Pistol permit fingerprints are done by appointment on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Fingerprints CANNOT be submitted to the state without the Applicant  Tracking Number, your application WILL BE REJECTED. NO PISTOL PERMIT APPOINTMENT CAN BE MADE WITHOUT THE APPLICANT TRACKING NUMBER FORM. Appointments can be made by contacting 203-744-7900 ext. 107.

On June 18th, the Bethel Police Department will be installing car seats at the Stony Hill Fire Department from 8am to 3pm.
No appointments necessary.

The Department is staffed with several officers who are trained in the installation of Child Safety Seats. Installations/inspections are done by appointment only. This service is free, however, donations are greatly appreciated and they are strictly used for child safety events, training, and related equipment.

Local residents and businesses are asked to register their home and business alarm systems with the Bethel Police Department. Businesses without alarms are also asked to register their emergency contacts and emergency key holders. Those who have already registered are asked to update their information as needed so that Police have the correct information on the alarm system and key holders during an activation or other emergency.

*Unless required by law, no alarm system which produces an exterior audible signal shall be installed unless its operation is automatically restricted to a maximum of 15 minutes with an automatic reset for a residential facility and 30 minutes with an automatic reset for a business facility. Notwithstanding the provisions of this article, the Town, its departments, officers, agents and employees shall be under no obligation whatsoever concerning the adequacy, operation or maintenance of any alarm device or alarm monitoring facilities. No liability whatsoever is assumed for the failure of such alarm devices or monitoring facilities or for the failure to respond to alarms.
