About the Registrar of Voters Office

The Registrar of Voters is governed by Connecticut State Statutes and overseen by the Connecticut Secretary of State.

Our primary duties include:

  • Register new voters and implement any voter requested changes to current registration 
  • Maintain updated voter registration records and enrollment records based on voter's registration eligibility 
  • Conduct a state-required canvass of all voters
  • Administer and oversee all elections, primaries and referenda in an accurate and impartial manner
  • Hire and train all poll workers and polling place officials
  • Maintain, test and store all voting equipment
